Entry.#8. Milestones in Life

When it comes to big things happening in life we always make sure they have a grand name along with a grand celebration. We see this throughout history and especially with anniversaries. People love celebrating an anniversary for anything. In relationships, in businesses and just life in general. I actually have one of those big milestones coming up and I just wanted to share some of the things that are going to come along with mine.

I’m turning 21 this upcoming weekend and it’s going to be the biggest milestone I’ve celebrated so far in my life. Other milestones people celebrate after 21 is probably turning 40 because nobody really cares about 30 and then it’s 50 and 60 years old. It’s almost like a congratulations for making it this far if you think about it. Which I have to say I have made it very far in life so far. The big thing about turning 21 is finally being of “legal” age. Which never made sense to me because they ship kids off to the army at age 18. And the only thing that comes with turning 21 is being able to drink and buy alcohol. I also get to play the lottery which I’m pretty excited about. But we all idolize turning 21 and it made me think about how much our society looks up to alcohol. Even though it is legal we see the harms and effects it does to people everyday. Sometimes more ban once a day. People drink and drink and drink and drinking makes people do stupid things. But yet we all wait to turn 21, we all make sure that it’s a big deal that we are now able to buy and consume alcohol legally. Well more for me turning 21 just means that I have lived and learned through 21 years.
