ENTRY #10. "The Simpsons"

As the variety of shows became more popular over time, no one in America would've thought of a cartoon show becoming the most watched showed in the world. "The Simpsons" came out on December 17, 1989. Created by Matt Groening, he had ideas for each characters in the family of five.

It is almost impossible to have never seen The Simpsons because of how popular it was and is. Matt started the first few episodes with the father, Homer, who is married to his wife Marge and having three kids, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. What made this animated family so interesting? They were not a perfect family, each half-hour episodes showed problems and also real life situations that related to the viewers. It has humor and heart-touching moments. Now, the show is STILL being played on Television with back-to-back episodes.

There is a connection between the Simpsons and society. It came down to the beliefs of Americans that The Simpsons can predict the future. Due to the episodes, many times what was seen or said on the Simpsons, really happened in real life. For example, the episode "Bart to the future" aired in 2000, predicted Donald trumps Presidency that happened in 2015.

Since its debut on December 17, 1989, The Simpsons has broadcast 625 episodes. The show holds several American television longevity records. It is also the longest-running prime-time animated series and longest-running sitcom in the United States.

The Growing of this show impacted Its audience in ways where it is still favorable on TV. They predict the future, Humor America and connect in 625 ways. There would not be any control in the world if The Simpsons ever ended.

  1. I love the Simpson's! I remember when my old brothers and I begged my mom to let us start watching it. We finally won by having her sit down and watch an episode with us. Despite her intentions to not let us watch it, she started laughing at the jokes in the show. The rest was history and we got to enjoy watching the Simpson's after that. It was glorious! I've fallen away from watching it now, granted I barely watch any TV now, but I've always loved this show. Maybe it helped that one of the characters shared my name, but I always loved the interactions between the characters. The fact that they weren't the perfect family honestly made it more real. It was easier to relate to them NOT having all their shit together and being PO'ed at each other, or irritated with each other. At the end of the day though, even if they wanted to (and did) strangle each other, they still loved each other. It was a perfect bit of reality in an animated cartoon that somehow was more 'real' about family life than any family-based sitcom out there. Epic. Totally epic.

  2. Hey! The Simpson's was also one of the few programs that my family would all sit down to watch and laugh together. If you like different genres of music, you should check out the "Simpson's Sing the Blues" album that they released. "Moanin' Lisa Blues" is my favorite track on this album with the use of the harmonica and guitar but all the tracks have their Simpson charm and wit. There are those that liked it and those that did not review it well, but either way it is definitely full of Simpson's satire.
