ENTRY #9. The power of media.

Image
Hello guys! Welcome back, I just want to briefly tell you guys a story about an experience I had with media not to long ago. Over the past few days I have been trying to come up with an argumentative topic for my English 102 paper. I had came across a bunch of issues due to the power of media, but I want to call out one specific one that bothers me. It came to be a Monday Afternoon and I had been Picked up for work by my aunt Erika who I work with and on our way to work, this was me on the passenger side turning over to see her face sucked in her phone, one hand was on the steering wheel because the other hand was holding her phone! I was looking at her like... I gasped and told her exactly what that meme above said " Fuck my life right?" Meaning she doesn't care about being on her phone while driving especially with me on the passenger seat. I then thought about how the power of media can literally kill you! If the media strongly took away the attention o

ENTRY #8. JUSTICE FOR CYNTOIA BROWN.

Image
#JUSTICE FOR CYNTOIA BROWN I just recently seen an article about a 15-year-old who was kidnapped, a part of human trafficking and sold to a 43-year-old man. This story has just become viral and the big part of this story isn’t that she was a part of human trafficking the big thing is that she had gotten the courage to finally fight back. she had shot and killed the man who bought her. She was forced into prostitution by a pimp when she was 15 years old and ended up killing a man when she was 16, in self-defense. She was tried as adult for his murder and given a life sentence. Her name is Cyntoia Brown, she’s been in prison for more than 10 years already. She was tried as an adult in 2004. I’m sure just like this case there are many cases where the justice system has failed and instead of trying to help children in the same predicament, they just see the “crime” they committed, and they lock them up and throw away the key. Her story had gone viral when singer, Rihanna,

ENTRY #7. HASHTAGS

Image
Now a days when you first hear the word Pound, You tend to think "what the hell does that mean?". Well, because social media takes a huge role in our life, All we ever known the pound for was "hashtag" or at-least for the past 10 years. You see, it became more easier once social communications came along and made everything off the phones. Instead of newspaper, Hashtags were more popular to use and interact with, but why? The "hash" symbol carried a lot of power in the way it represented something and getting to it quick. A hashtag goes viral on the internet and in seconds you can see what's going on because the hashtag says it. For example, when you want to look up a certain subject online, all you have to do is hashtag the subject and it will come up instantly. Hashtags are very known to be the quickest link to any subject you're interested on. I happen to have a lot of experience with hashtags because of Twitter. Twitter is the king of h

EXTRA CREDIT ENTRY #6.5. CAPITALISM RHETORIC.

Image
After watching a short film by Michael Moore, At the beginning I was trying to understand his purpose of this film. He showed footage of robbers robbing a bank and then videos of kittens being scared, I thought okay this film maker was trying to be funny but what got me to think more was his responds to those videos. He mentioned " will the future remember us as funny kittens in the world or the real crimes being made". Further on I've learned from this film that CAPITALISM is not fair at all, in fact I've learned exactly what it is and how it works in our country. They get private owners to control the industry which usually are economic and political systems, for profit. Moore showed me that you can ask questions that tend to sweat them. Questions that the industries don't want to hear and in the film Michael goes to Washington D.C to ask some questions and they usually didn't know the answer to. In overall, Moore shows the impact in America with capita

ENTRY #6. LEFT HANDERS.

Image
Hello guys, Right now I am going to be talking about cool benefits of being a left handed person. I want to start off to say that I am one of them, and that you are definitely not cursed ( not too sure). If you are a lefty you probably are not always right. kidding! just because we are lefties doesn't mean we are not capable of doing what right handers do, as a matter of fact, Left handed people are just as smart or creative as righties. There is, for sure more right handed people in the world and only about 10% of left handers who are usually the odd ones out but after knowing how I write and draw or do anything with my left hand, I am quite great.I know that being a lefty can take advantage of sports. Being a former player I loved being able to play basketball and being able to make a left lay-up knowing its one of the hardest thing to do for a right handed person.  I've noticed that left handed people get their side of the palm and pinky finger dirty when writing.

ENTRY #5. local story respond.

The article by Doug Ducey, Arizonans governor, talks about the reasons why Arizona need more college grads and he starts off with being a father and how education leads to more opportunity. Yes that is true but as a father with children going to school, does he think about how much it is going to be? of course not. My point is, he needs to experience why the people who have not gone to college are struggling. There are plenty of reasons why and that could be because of money or family issues. His article made me sigh in the way he made it sound so easy, because it is not.  It takes skills and money to even go to a college and achieve, even a support system because it is not easy. The most important thing we need is money to attend. The thing is, the real reason why we need to improve our graduation rates in college is to raise the economy. So what if we make it happen? The economy gets higher due to the great college rates, people are on their American dream and done. happily ever afte

ENTRY #4. SELENA.

Image
Something good that finally came across the world was having the legendary Selena Quintanilla receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of fame. On Friday, thousands of people arrived before the unveiling. Many Actors arrived at the scene such as Eva Longoria and Edward James Olmos whom Played Quintanilla's Father in the 1997 film about her life. According to the Los Angles Times , the star is fittingly located near the Capitol Records building , where the Tejano singer signed a contract with EMI. Selena was, is, and, were I to guess, will remain for eternity the most beloved female of all time in the Latino community.❤ WHO IS SELENA? She was a singer and she mostly operated in the Tejano and Mexican cumbia segment of the spectrum, though her gorgeous 1995 album Dreaming of You , which had songs in both English and Spanish and when it first came out it was no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and that was the first time a Hispanic singer had pulled

Entry #3. THE FAKE NEWS FIGHT.

Image
October 4th, 2017 an article by CBS NEWS reported about Facebook having fake news about the incident on the day Las Vegas mass shooting occurred. What lead to that topic were the relatives of the shooter being the center of the problem. Due to the lack of incorrect information on social media, it lead to death threats and hatred towards the family. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/las-vegas-shooting-fake-news-stories-spread-on-social-media/ The Danley family lived in Arkansas and claimed to have noting to do with the incident in Las Vegas, but as fast as the internet goes, photos and names that connected with the family were exposed on Facebook.
